ADHD, Connections, News

DisAbility Support Network

At the end of the week my husband suggested we attend an event at Merseyside Police HQ. I didn’t really know what to expect or whether it would be relevant to our work.

All scepticism was wiped away! The passion and dedication of all those present was so inspiring and reassuring that people really are trying to make a difference.

I was totally blown away by the honest and moving speakers. Especially Mairead who shared her experiences ADHD for the first time publicly and importance of understanding invisible conditions, neuro diversity & disability.

It is so refreshing to hear people talking and speaking out about invisible conditions.

We also heard about Purple Light Up, the Autism card, Princes trust team program, Travelsafe and Our Blue Light.

Purple Light Up

On Monday 3rd December 2018 you may notice a few buildings around Liverpool (and the rest of the World) turning purple!

This is to celebrate and empower disabled people across the globe.

Autism Card

Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) have collaborated with the Cheshire Autism Practical Support (ChAPS) and Autism Together charities to launch the Autism Attention Card.

Sergeant Mike Brumskill spoke about the initiative and how long it took to set up due to funding. This card is designed to help people with Autism Spectrum Condition to receive appropriate support in an emergency situation. The initiative provides training for staff to engage more effectively with people with hidden vulnerabilities.

Committee, Connections

Halton & St Helens VCA Annual Conference

The committee never stops!

Today Clair, Bernie and I are attending the VCA Annual Conference and AGM @ the Totally Wicked Stadium.

We have so much support from the VCA and we’re looking forward to some very useful workshops, connecting and networking with like minded people and meeting some funders.

Kicking it all off with a really interesting presentation on Social Innovation @Mark_Sw1ft
